Residence Hall Life
Academic Assistant (AA) (University Residence Halls & Apartments)
The Academic Assistant is a key component of the First-Year Interest (FYI) and Sophomore Housing (SoHo) Programs. You have the opportunity to impact first and second year students and help them achieve academic success in their first two years at college by acting as a mentor/tutor. Within the Residential Life network, you will be able to maximize your own potential and greatly enhance your University experience. Being an AA is a learning experience and friendships will be formed that will last for many years.
Leadership House (Center for Student Leadership and Community Engagement)
Leadership House is a living-learning community with the goal of educating its members about leadership and community engagement. It provides an environment to help students explore their leadership abilities while encouraging active participation in the campus community. For more information contact the Leadership Development Center at 645-6469.
Residence Hall Association (RHA) (University Residence Halls & Apartments)
Made up of the thirteen hall councils, RHA provided programming for all the residential population of UB and serves as an advocate for the entire residence hall population. Members of the RHA Executive Board, in addition to hall council representatives, serve on university committees and advise Residence Life officials on resident concerns. All questions can be answered by calling 645-3872, email rha@acsu.buffalo.edu or stop by 158 Fillmore.
Resident Advisor (RA) (University Residence Halls & Apartments)
The Resident Advisor is the staff position with the greatest opportunity to have an impact on students. Your relationship with students will change with each person and with each situation. You will alternately play the following roles: a source of information, a peer counselor, a programmer, an authority figure, and a role model. This position is regarded as an opportunity for developing leadership and a sense of responsibility. Being a RA is a learning experience and friendships will be formed that will last for many years. We expect that this role at the University will be second in importance only to your academics. Use it well; the more you contribute, the more you will gain. Contact your Hall Director for more information.
