Family Weekend

What is Family Weekend?

Family Weekend is a UB tradition. Every year, families and students reunite to revisit what makes UB great. The weekend features activities to help families experience college life at UB. This year's weekend includes our Homecoming Carnival, a Fan Fest Tailgate and UB Bulls Football, an afternoon of tours, Family Brunch and so much more.

8 am Alumni Panel Discussion: Personalized Medicine & the Consumer
Center for the Arts, North Campus
The University at Buffalo Alumni Association will present a mini symposium on general issues concerning personalized medicine (genomics) and how it is impacting our lives in 2015 and beyond. Keynote Speaker is Norma Nowak, PhD '86, MS '80, Executive Director of the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences at the University at Buffalo and Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Empire Genomics LLC. 12 pm UB@Noon: Puppy Love
Center for the Arts, North Campus
"There is no better remedy for anxiety and stress than the friendly face of a therapy dog," says Pamela Rose, coordinator of web services and library promotion for the Health Sciences Library. Rose hosts therapy dogs during Stress Relief Days at the UB libraries; she also volunteers, with her dog Sophia, with several therapy dog groups.
Come learn how therapy dogs help people with their anxiety and stress. Therapy dog(s) will be on hand after the luncheon so you can experience it first-hand! (Registration will open soon.)

5 pm - 10 pm Carnival & Bonfire
The shore of Lake LaSalle next to UB Bookstore, North Campus
Come be a part of Come be a part of UB's oldest homecoming tradition, SA's Homecoming Carnival. Free to all, our carnival features live entertainment, free rides, games, prizes, food and a great time for everyone. Rain or shine, the carnival will leave you ready to cheer on the Bulls to victory on Saturday! After the carnival ends at 9 pm, join us at the lake shore for the UB Pep Rally, giant bonfire and fireworks display.

UB parents and families are invited to learn more about UB and to offer us your feedback. Space is limited - for more information and to reserve your spot, visit the Parent Advisory Board page.
9:30 am - return by 3 pm Niagara Falls Trip
Leave from the Student Union Lobby
Tour the breathtaking American Falls, grab a bite to eat, visit shops or make a quick casino stop. Important: If you plan to walk over to the Canadian side of the Falls, you must have your passport or entry documents.
$12 per person (includes bus fare).
10 am - return by 2 pm Great Pumpkin Farm Trip
Leave from the Student Union Lobby
Enjoy this beautiful harvest festival in a traditional farm setting. Admission includes entertainment (e.g., petting zoo, face painting), contests (e.g. pie eating, scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating, mummy wrapping) and kids' craft tent.
$14 per person (includes admission & bus fare).
12:30 pm Game Day Experience
Stampede Square - Stadium Lot, North Campus
You don't want to miss the UB Football Game Day Experience happening on UB's North Campus and Homecoming is no exception! Stampede Square is the destination for pregame tailgating for UB fans! Two hours before game time help the players, coaches and cheerleaders get psyched to beat Bowling Green as they head into the stadium during the Walk to Victory, accompanied by the Thunder of the East marching band.

Celebrate the UB Bulls Football with great food, entertainment, giveaways and more. Preregistration required.

1:30 pm KC & the Sunshine Band - Free UB Tailgate Concert Series
Stampede Square - Stadium Lot, North Campus
Boogie down with KC & the Sunshine Band featuring hits like "That's the Way (I Like It)," "Get Down Tonight" and "Boogie Shoes," as they take the stage for the pregame tailgate concert.

8 pm LehrerDance with 10,000 Maniacs
Center for the Arts
Buffalo's internationally touring professional dance company (founded by UB Alum Jon Lehrer) kicks off the season with a stunning concert showcasing the company's trademark blend of artistry and athleticism. Now in its 9th year, LehrerDance plans a special evening featuring audience favorites and three world premieres including a live performance with popular band 10,000 Maniacs.
$31.50 per person, $13.50 for students

Join us and help set a new world record! We're looking for 150 teams of 2 to compete.

The University at Buffalo, the State University of New York Athletics Department has teamed with the Buffalo City Mission in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for largest cornhole tournament prior to the Bulls' homecoming football game against Bowling Green on Saturday, October 3.
