Introduction
Will you be at UB?
Whether you are just starting your college search or have already decided that UB is the place for you, it is important to consider your housing options.
We think living on campus is a great way to complete your college experience. You have a once in a lifetime opportunity to live, learn, work, and play in one place. We supply all the basic comforts, allowing you to focus on your academic goals. Compare the advantages . . . ongoing programs, fun events, a learning environment, a caring staff, and a great location. We offer more than just a room.
If you are considering off-campus housing, please research carefully to understand what you will get from each provider. Unfortunately, several private development companies and landlords portray themselves as affiliated with UB. The only on-campus housing provider is UB's "University Residence Halls and Apartments.
Difference Between Residence Halls and Apartments
As you may have guessed by our name, the University Residence Halls and Apartments specialize in two types of housing—residence halls and apartments. So, who lives where? And why?
If you are a first year or sophomore student, you will live in our traditional residence halls. Students live together in one, two, three or four person rooms. Kitchens, bathrooms, and lounges are shared with the community. Residence Hall floors are close-knit families where students learn to live with many others from all over the state, country, and world. Residence Hall Agreements (housing contracts) last for the fall and spring semester. The halls offer a unique, exciting, academic community designed for the student.
All students can live in the traditional halls but those with junior and above class standing are eligible for our apartments. In our apartments, you will have your own single bedroom in an apartment with up to four roommates. Each air-conditioned apartment has a kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave, living/dining area, and private baths shared with only one other person. Depending on the complex, apartments have 10 or 12-month contracts. Amenities, privacy, and independence are what make the apartments worth waiting for.
