Residence Hall Programming

The University Residence Halls and Apartments recognizes that the residence halls are a natural and integral part of a student's educational experience and therefore attempts to enhance the college experience by creating an environment that is conducive to both casual and formal community interaction. The University Residence Halls and Apartments further recognize that programming enhances a student's living/learning experience.

As a department, our commitment to programming is grounded in student development theory with the intent of providing students with positive experiences and life skills. As a staff, we have adopted a programming model to meet the needs of our residential population. The University Residence Halls and Apartments staff assesses the needs of residents while gauging their interest to provide formal educational initiatives, as well as opportunities to build a strong community.

To assist residential staff in the achievement of programming goals and requirements, $10.00 per student is allocated and a series of programming grants have been established. These grants aid staff in creating dynamic and quality programming for the UB students living in the residence halls. The grants fall under 4 functional areas; Late Night Weekend Programming Enrichment Experience, Diversity Awareness, Educational and all grants are reviewed by the area teams professional staff.

RA's are required to complete 7 programs a semester. Each RA will complete an Enrichment Experience Program where they will take their floor to a campus event and a "First 6 Weeks Program". They will also complete 2 "Late-night Weekend" programs a semester and 1 Diversity program per semester. Late-Night weekend programs must occur on Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights and start by 9 pm and last until at least 11 pm.
