Global Competency Certificate Workshop Series

UB students: You can earn a Global Competency Certificate!

Dates:

Time: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Location: 240 Student Union

Global Competency can be defined as possessing the knowledge, skills, and awareness that enable an individual to interact successfully and responsibly with people of different cultures, experiences, viewpoints, and values.

You may register for any or all three parts of the "Global Competency Series"; UB students who are interested in earning a "Global Competency Certificate" may opt to register for all three Global Competency Workshops; certificate will be issued upon completion.


Global Competency Workshop #1 – Know Yourself

Wed. 2/1/12 from 1 – 2 p.m.

Global Competency can be defined as possessing the knowledge, skills, and awareness that enable an individual to interact successfully and responsibly with people of different cultures, experiences, viewpoints, and values. Part I of the Global Competency Workshop Series is about you - what have been the most formative experiences and values in your life and are they shared with others? How do these experiences influence the way you see the world? UB students who are interested in earning a Global Competency Certificate must register and attend all three Global Competency Workshops. Certificate will be issued upon completion.

Global Competency Workshop #2 – Adapting a Global Perspective

Wed. 2/15/12 from 1 – 2 p.m.

Part II of the Global Competency Workshop Series will focus on situating yourself in a globalized community. Living and working amongst those who are different, how can we thrive and learn from one another? When conflict arises, how can we navigate it effectively? This workshop will build cross-cultural communication and conflict resolution skills. UB students who are interested in earning a Global Competency Certificate must register and attend all three Global Competency Workshops, certificate will be issued upon completion.

Global Competency Workshop #3 - Responsible Global Citizenship

Wed. 2/29/12 from 1 – 2 p.m.

Part III of the Global Competency Workshop Series will focus on action - how do our actions influence others? In this workshop we will talk about how our actions are interconnected with the actions of those in our immediate community and those who live halfway around the world. UB students who are interested in earning a Global Competency Certificate must register and attend all three Global Competency Workshops, certificate will be issued upon completion.
