Are you interested in:- Developing your intercultural competencies?
- Becoming more aware of diversity and its impact?
- Developing your knowledge of social justice issues?
- Advocating for all of the above?
If so, the Diversity Institute is for YOU!
The Diversity Institute is designed to spark thought and engage students in conversations about the concepts of diversity, cultural identity and social justice in a safe, encouraging and challenging environment.
The Institute is a guided discussion of topics of race, ethnicity, class, gender, and other topics relevant to social justice. Half think tank, half lecture, students, staff, and faculty join together in conversations about different forms of inequality and how this impacts our daily lives. We will also discuss/explore ways to challenge these inequalities through social justice initiatives.
The Diversity Institute addresses questions such as:- How does the world look through your cultural lens?
- What is privilege and oppression?
- How do class, race, gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation influence our lives?
- What is social justice?
- How can we be proactive in challenging inequality in our daily lives, in our local communities and in our world?
