Leadership Certificate Program
Why Leadership Certification?
- Develop self as a confident and competent leader
- Connect and network with other future leaders
- Create a personalized leadership track with your Leadership Advisor
- Receive a certificate verifying your leadership training and experiences
Students who complete all the requirements by the deadline will receive their certificate at the end of the spring semester.
Leadership Certificate recipients were recognized at the Pillars of Leadership Awards Ceremony on April 30, 2008.
Getting Started:
- Stop by the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CSLCE), 235 Student Union
- Set up a meeting with a Leadership Advisor (be sure to mention any programs you’ve participated in already)
Requirements:
- Leadership Consultation
- Meet with your Leadership Advisor and complete your Leadership Certificate Portfolio form
- Training
- SOUL (Students in Organizations Understanding Leadership) Program OR
- Attend 4 CSLCE Life & Learning Workshops (under Leadership or Diversity categories, including SITE workshops) (register online)
- Education – 2 Options
- Either complete the CSLCE Sections of UBE 102 (Spring Semester only), UBE 110, or UBE 496
- OR complete 2 of the following:
- Real Experience and Leadership Mentoring (REALM)
- 2 activities during Leadership Week (Fall semester only)
- 2 activities during the Women Empowered to Lead (WE LEAD) program (Spring semester only)
- Diversity Institute – Register through the Intercultural and Diversity Center
- Western New York Leadership Conference
- Development
- 20 hours of community service (track your hours online)
- Documentation & Wrap-Up
- Create a Leadership Portfolio that will help you make meaning and reflect on your experience. For your Leadership Advisor to create the portfolio, respond to the Leadership Portfolio Reflection Questions: PDF (26KB) | Word (34KB)
- Once completed, set up a meeting with your Leadership Advisor to discuss your experience and review your final Portfolio.
