What Kind of Leader Are You?

Ever wonder what your leadership style is or what strengths you bring to a group or team? Using the Leadership Challenge, learn the 5 exemplary practices of great leaders and find out where your strengths lie and where you can grow.
Volunteering- How, What, Where, Why

Looking to volunteer, but not sure how? We will look at how you find and choose the best volunteer opportunities to fit your wants and needs.
Time Management

Do you find yourself wishing there were more hours in a day, more days in a week, or more weeks in a year? Learn how to successfully juggle your multiple priorities while gaining a better understanding of why you choose certain activities over others.
Public Speaking

Are you uncomfortable with public speaking or simply want to improve your ability? This workshop will provide you with tips for effective public speaking, tricks for overcoming your fears, and techniques to reduce anxiety and perform at your best!
Decision Making with Confidence
October 8, 5:30-6:30pm

Every day we make hundreds of decisions, but do you ever doubt if those are the right decisions? Come and learn how to make both quick and well thought out decisions using Six Hats of Decision Making, PMI, and Thin Slicing. By learning these techniques, you can learn how to make solid decisions and be confident in them.
How to Work in a Team

You will be a member of many teams throughout your life, so why not learn how to make a team more successful? Learn how to be a valuable team player and how to motivate others to contribute to the group project. We'll talk about how to enhance cohesion among a group and give you the tools, including interactive games, to build your own teams.
DiSCover Your Style

If you are wondering how you might work more effectively with certain challenging personalities then it is time to come take a look at yourself. By recognizing your own style through the DiSC Personality Assessment, you can learn to work more effectively with everyone.
Effective Communication

Have people told you that you don’t seem to listen or you can’t get your message across? Come learn how to listen to understand, how your nonverbal communication can impact a conversation and how to make sure your message is understood.
Setting Goals & Staying Motivated

Everyone knows it is important to set goals, but without motivation, goals will simply fade away. This workshop will teach you how to set goals and more importantly, help you find the motivation to reach them.
Volunteering and Civic Engagement - What's the difference?

To lead is to serve! Learn about volunteering as a means of being a civically engaged leader. If you want to learn about the concepts of activism, advocacy, servant leadership and the importance of being an active community member then this workshop is for you.

SITE Workshops: Social Issues Training & Education
These workshops precede a Saturday of Service (SOS) volunteer opportunity, which students can sign-up to participate in through the Center for Student Leadership & Community Engagement. SITE Workshops can count towards the Leadership Certificate.
SITE Workshop: Supporting Refugee Populations
September 15, 5:30 - 6:30pm

What is a refugee? Did you know that 97% of the incoming population to Western NY in 2007/2008 were refugees? This workshop will examine what it means to be in the USA as a refugee, the issues and challenges facing this population and the assistance available in Western NY. Special attention will be given to how we, as college students, can make a difference to welcome and support the refugee population.
SITE Workshop: Advocacy Mentoring
October 20, 5:30-6:30pm

Have you ever been around a peer who said something you found offensive, but you didn't know how to respond? This workshop will explore different ways in which people support or speak up on behalf of others. We will focus on how little things we do on a daily basis can make a big difference and inspire others to stand up for what they believe in as well.
SITE Workshop: Classism and Access to Higher Education
November 17, 5:30 – 6:30pm

The road to becoming a UB student is different for everyone. This workshop will provide an opportunity for students to explore what classism means to them, the strengths and limitations derived from class, and the impact of class on our lives, specifically focusing on preparation and access to higher education.
