About Linda Yalem Safety Run
The University at Buffalo (UB) is proud to present the annual Linda Yalem Safety Run, a 5k run (walkers are welcome) held at UB's North Campus to promote runner and walker safety.
The run is one of UB's most enduring traditions because it supports a good cause; features a clean, runner-friendly course; is an official qualifying race (Buffalo News Runner of the Year series) that welcomes serious and casual runners alike.
In addition, it includes a Kids' Dash (with prizes for kids), and high-quality awards - not to mention one of the area's best after-race parties with delicious food.
Each year, UB welcomes over 1,000 runners and walkers, and more than 600 volunteers, who believe in the importance of taking control over our own personal safety, and to remember Linda Yalem, a UB student who was assaulted and murdered in 1990.
Your registration fees support UB's efforts to promote personal safety awareness and rape prevention. Join us and remember to stay safe when you run or walk. Never run or walk alone, be aware of your surroundings, and take precautions on unfamiliar routes. Here are more safety tips.
