Mission Statement
In support of the University and Student Affairs missions, the Office of New Student Programs is committed to providing all new undergraduate students a strong foundation for academic and personal development and success at the University at Buffalo by:
- Welcoming students to and encouraging active engagement with the intellectual, social, and cultural environment of the UB community;
- Introducing new students to resources and student services available to enrich and support their educational experiences;
- Facilitating opportunities for positive interaction among new students and peers, upper class mentors, staff, and faculty;
- Enhancing the leadership skills and experiences of upper class students who work directly and purposefully with new students and their families;
- Encouraging and educating parents and family members to be actively and appropriately involved in supporting their UB student;
- Promoting, fostering, and coordinating University community involvement in providing transition services that establish a framework for student success;
- Continuously assessing the changing needs of the diverse new student population, and responding to those needs.
