UB Reads is the University at Buffalo’s annual book club. The goal of the program is to contribute to the sense of community at UB – among students, faculty, and staff – through a shared reading experience. Each year, a new book is chosen that reflects topics and issues of global importance.
The program objectives are to:
- Encourage students, faculty, and staff to read the selected book;
- Provide opportunities for discussion and active engagement related to the topics and issues addressed in the book;
- Provide a Distinguished Speakers Series lecture related to the book and encourage students to attend; and
- Emphasize the value of reading as a form of lifelong learning.
