Rights and Responsibilities for Disability Access to Academic Programs: A Guide for UB Faculty and Staff
A comprehensive overview of the regulations, procedures, and expectations related to teaching students with disabilities at UB.
The University at Buffalo is strongly committed to ensuring our academic and campus facilities and programs are accessible to all members of the UB Community. Accessibility Resources partners with the faculty in providing academic accommodations for eligible students with disabilities at the University at Buffalo. At times faculty may look to us to administer exams, consult on student concerns, or to request accommodations themselves. If at any time you have questions or concerns about the rights of students with disabilities or your rights as a faculty member please do not hesitate to contact Randy Borst, Accessibility Resources Director at 645-2608.
Syllabus Statement
Faculty and Instructors are strongly encouraged to include a statement on their syllabus informing students of their rights and providing information on how to contact Accessibility Resources. Please feel free to use the following sample statement:
"If you have a disability and may require some type of instructional and/or examination accommodation, please inform me early in the semester so that we can coordinate the accommodations you may need. If you have not already done so, please contact the Accessibility Resources office. The office is located at 25 Capen Hall and the telephone number is (716) 645-2608."
