Mission
The mission of the University at Buffalo Police Department is to provide a safe, friendly and welcoming environment
for students, visitors, faculty and staff to live, learn, work, and play.
Staffing Profile
The Department of University Police Officers are highly trained professional Police Officers. The Department of University Police personnel have the full state authority to enforce and investigate all laws and regulations. The Department of University Police is committed to courtesy and excellence and to the philosophy of community policing. It is service oriented and strives to provide police services that meet the specialized needs of a university community. The Department of University Police Officers are required to have completed the equivalent of two years (four semesters) of college and many have earned Bachelor and Master degrees. They also receive specialized training in/for the following:

Who should use our services
All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to take advantage of the department's community policing services and crime prevention programs. The University at Buffalo Department of University Police is an integral part of the educational process: its educational, informational, and awareness programs strive to enlist the assistance and cooperation of all members of the academic community. Members of the academic community and visitors to the campus are encouraged to report crimes or other emergencies to the department's dispatcher by telephone (645-2222).
