Primary Care Appointments

Most of your health care needs and concerns can be taken care of by one of our providers. Please call 829-3316 to make an appointment. Most students can be seen the same day or the next day. If we cannot take care of your problem, we will refer you to a community provider best suited to your needs.

The UB Health Services offers a wide range of gynecologic care. We provide primary care gynecology services and counseling for women. Services related to sexually transmitted diseases, safer sex, contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing and referral, routine gynecologic care, and annual exams are offered at the Health Services. While your Combined University Fee covers your visit, there may be a charge if lab work is required. Most often these lab charges are billable to your personal health insurance.

When the health needs of an individual require the services of a specialist, we will refer the patient to the appropriate provider in the community.

Health Services providers are available to counsel pregnant women about their options. Women who choose to terminate a pregnancy via surgical or medical (including RU-486) abortion will be referred to qualified specialists in the community who have the training, facilities, and technology to provide the best possible care for our patients. Women who choose to continue a pregnancy will be referred to qualified obstetricians in the community.

Please remember to bring your insurance information to your appointment in order to complete the necessary laboratory paperwork. If this is the first time we will be seeing you for a pap smear or annual exam, you will need to complete a Women's Health Education Session prior to making your appointment. Policies

Student Health Services Late Policy

Students who are more than 10 minutes late for their scheduled appointments will have to reschedule for a future time. The effects of students being late causes other scheduled appointments to be delayed. To remedy this, Student Health Services advises that students arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment.

Excuse Policy

The UB Student Wellness Team (Health Services, Counseling Services, Wellness Education Services) will not issue notes or excuses. To do so creates an undesirable climate for health care and disempowers students. Responsibility for class attendance and for completion of assignments rests primarily with the student, who assumes this responsibility by communicating directly with faculty. Health Services and Counseling Services will, with the authorization of the student, verify the nature and extent of illness if the faculty member wishes to call.

Appointment Reminders

As a courtesy service to our patients, we send an emailed appointment reminder approximately 2 days prior to a scheduled visit. The message will contain the date, time and name of the provider you are scheduled to see; however, to protect your confidentiality it will not contain the reason for your visit.
