A Safety Message from VP of Student Affairs

Special Events

The Office of Special Events is responsible for programming many significant University-wide events which contribute directly to academic and student life, scholarly recognition and University enhancement. The activities that our office actively plans and participates in offer a consistent means to showcase the University as a thriving, spirited and unified family of faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends and community.

Each Spring, the Office of Special Events presents the University's Celebration of Academic Excellence, a university-wide celebration of scholarly, research, and creative excellence. In addition, the Office of Special Events plans and presents the University at Buffalo's Commencement exercises in May.

Throughout the year, programs like the Distinguished Speakers Series, the Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration, and the Fenton Lecture the Office of Special Events serves the diverse Western New York area by presenting nationally and internationally renowned speakers who can enhance our own sense of culture and tradition by delivering messages of personally discovered courage, convictions and truths.

Additionally, the Office of Special Events, actively plans and participates in September Welcome, various "Fests", Homecoming/Parents Weekend, Preview Day and other popular calendar highlights. Special Events continually strives to seek new opportunities that will showcase the University at Buffalo and enhance its presence in our community.
