Mission
Student Life upholds the missions of the University at Buffalo and Student Affairs by providing meaningful opportunities, programs and services for students that encourage and foster involvement, leadership, diversity, pride, tradition, learning, self-development and success.
Through programs and services, Student Life is committed to assisting students in becoming a force for positive change in the university community and the greater society.
Vision
In placing "students first", Student Life will continuously strive to meet and identify the ever-changing needs of our students through quality programming and services.
Goals
- Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders, to provide innovative and purposeful programs, activities, and services
- Commit to maintaining the highest standards of quality in our facilities, programs, services and staff
- Provide students opportunities to develop leadership skills to achieve their goals and make a positive influence in their lives and the lives of others
- Provide cultural enrichment and foster diversity education through social and educational programs that empower students, faculty and staff
- Provide academic and social advisement to Student Governments, Greek-letter social organizations and various clubs and organizations at the University
- Provide the services, conveniences and amenities which are needed in daily life by the members and guests of this community and a setting for the growth of interpersonal relationships, informal association, and personal development
- Integrate student development principles in order to maximize growth in the student affairs profession
- Create learning communities in which students can learn, serve, enhance personal growth and facilitate the attainment of education
- Foster citizenship by providing service learning opportunities for the intellectual, social, and ethical development of all students through the promotion of co-curricular activities and civic engagement
- Continually examine the changing needs of our students through evaluation and assessment techniques
- Encourage student input in decision making and program planning
