About Us
"Who we are and What we do"
The Thunder of the East is UB's most visible performing ensemble. The Band performs at all home football games as well as local appearances in exhibition for NYSFBC Band Competitions, parades, and select away games. We have also been seen on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU in support of our teams!
The 2008 UB Marching Band traveled extensively throughout the season performing at notable venues throughout the Northeast : at the University of Pittsburgh (Heinz Field), at the Mid- American Conference Championship Game (Detroit: Ford Field), as well as performing in the University’s first-ever Bowl Game- International Bowl- (Rogers Center- Toronto, Canada).
The Thunder of the East is a "drum corps" style marching ensemble that incorporates traditional marching band instrumentation: woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The musicians of the band are accompanied on-field by a sensational color-guard (flags), dance team, and Majorettes.
Membership in the band is open to all University at Buffalo students without audition regardless of major.
